Africa
This morning I awoke with a taste
A taste for big game hunting
Sleep still in my eyes I stepped into the shower
Standing under the waterfall
This morning I awoke with a taste
A taste for big game hunting
Sleep still in my eyes I stepped into the shower
Standing under the waterfall
Envisioning the chase
Wrapped in tropical steam
Wrapped in tropical steam
And I saw the cradle
The birthplace of my people
A lush jungle teaming with life
Stepping onto the savannah I dried myself
And stood naked for a moment
As I admired my reflection in a quiet pool
Made by God’s own hand and in His image
I am stronger than the elephant
Faster than the leopard
Mightier than the lion
Today I will feast on the flesh of the gazelle
So I roam the plain in search of my quarry
But soon I am taken by the beauty of this land
I travel East and West
From the highest point of Mount Kenya
I see heaven
To the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro
I taste bliss
Heading South across the savannah
I smell the good earth
Finding the source the Nile I head North again
I see the wonder of a continent in the eyes of my woman
So I reach down and take a handful of earth
And I feel the moistness of the rich soil
My senses absorb it all
I came to hunt and yet now I plow
Having arrived at the most fertile delta
I till the earth and plant my seed
I will make my home in Africa
The birthplace of my people
A lush jungle teaming with life
Stepping onto the savannah I dried myself
And stood naked for a moment
As I admired my reflection in a quiet pool
Made by God’s own hand and in His image
I am stronger than the elephant
Faster than the leopard
Mightier than the lion
Today I will feast on the flesh of the gazelle
So I roam the plain in search of my quarry
But soon I am taken by the beauty of this land
I travel East and West
From the highest point of Mount Kenya
I see heaven
To the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro
I taste bliss
Heading South across the savannah
I smell the good earth
Finding the source the Nile I head North again
I see the wonder of a continent in the eyes of my woman
So I reach down and take a handful of earth
And I feel the moistness of the rich soil
My senses absorb it all
I came to hunt and yet now I plow
Having arrived at the most fertile delta
I till the earth and plant my seed
I will make my home in Africa

I never tire of this poem...
The photo still blows me away!
***Huge Sigh***
The MotherLand....
nice work zay...from one photog to another, the composition is on point. don't want to get technical here on the blog, but what stirs me about this image is her left hand against the pillow and the right one slightly hidden, in motion.
it says...surrender.
one brief technical note (sorry, y'all): what camera format? b&w film, color film, printed on panalure? or digitally converted?
Lance - photography's your schtick, too? u been holdin' out!
Lance you are a man of many talents...
Why did i know Zay was going to be featuring a shot here today. Got to keep my work rule in effect.
sound like
yawls pussies
are clique tight
gang like even
@Love: It's just about my favorite of all the poems I've written and I remember my mout dropping open when I saw the photo for the first time. (days after I captured that moment.)
@Cap: [sigh and dreamy look] I know...
@Lance: Oh now I love this! We have similar eyes. That hand at rest grabs me each time I see the photo. I'll have to go back to my archives to get you the tech stuff (f-stop, ISO, exposure, etc) but I always shoot in color for flexibility, and bring coloe saturation down to zero manually. I love B/W but digital let's me do some cool things. We need to talk shop more often my friend. While i have yoru attention, I'm in the market for a new digital SLR. Nikon or Cannon? :-)
@Cap: I know right! LOL
@Rich: By now, you know how we do it on Pussy Chat ;-)
@Torrance: Tight Pussies are where it's at bruh LOL
Peace and Love,
Alizé
it's surreal, but i'm checking out zay's post, picture and comments by y'all...and guess what's comes on the music playlist to the right..
maxwell's "a woman's work".
this song compliments this picture so well, it's reminiscent of sanaa lathan and omar epps in "love & basketball". one of my favorite love scenes in cinema.
i've been outta the photography game professionally for about 14 years, being a photojournalist. but the craft is like riding a bicycle. once you learn the basics, it's easy. with some personal struggles in the mid-90's, i lost interest in photography professional and been on this quest of being a professional screenwriter having written several non-produced screenplays.
zay, as far as digital cameras...there all so close..i'd chose the one that will give you the most for the money. being a nikon man, canons are hard to beat with lenses, equipment & technical support. they are a couple of camera rental houses in the so. fla area. stop by, test drive one for a weekend and then decide. me, i'm kinda old school with film...it's something about seeing a b&w print magically appear in the developer, wash & fixer.
sorry for the long comment...
yeah, yeah..i know. create yo' own blog... ;-P
Lance if I said it once I have said it a 1000 times...you are a very interesting Man...a man of many talents!
I hope Sisters are taking notice. That is if you are not already hooked up...hhhm a new blog concept...matchmaking...LOL!
@Lance: But your commentary of the photo are enlightening to say the least. You are truly an amazing dude. But now I must confess, my question about Cannon vs. Nikon was a crude test. I've already decided to purchase the Nikon D40 for the absolute best performance at a rock-bottom price, but I knew your answer would be revealing. (And I agree, Cannon has awesome optics.) Please forgive me, but I just had to do whatever to get you to open up. LOL
Most respectfully yours,
@Love: Look at you, pimping out Lance. LOL But what can I say, the brotha has it going on.
Peace and Love
Alizé
